Fitment trades · 6 entries

Six buyers who cannot name what they need

In these trades the buyer almost never knows your part number. They know the vehicle, the load, the bill, the machine they are servicing — and the right product is whatever fits that. The question is never “do you have X”; it is “what is the X for this”, and answering it means reading a specification out of something that is not a specification.

Can it find the right part from a vehicle model or a photo?

It narrows from what the buyer actually gives you — a model and year, a rating, a photo of the worn part — against your own fitment data, and asks for the one detail that settles it rather than picking. Where fitment cannot be established from what was sent, it hands over instead of shipping a part that nearly fits.

A part that nearly fits is a return plus a vehicle off the road.

Fitment on a vehicle2

Two cases where the model is the specification

A worn part, photographed, plus “Swift Dzire 2016”

— no part number anywhere, and the part is worn out of recognition

Swift Dzire 2016 ka ye part chahiye, photo bhej raha hoon

“I need this part for a 2016 Swift Dzire — sending a photo.”

What you'll observe

The model and year narrow it against your fitment data, and the photo narrows it further. Where two variants both fit, it asks which rather than sending the more common one.

Tyres, batteries and lubricants

— the same fitment question in three different vocabularies

What you'll observe

Size, rating and grade read against what the vehicle actually takes. A battery that fits the tray and not the load is a fitment failure that starts working and then stops.

When the specification lives somewhere else4

Three cases where the answer is written down — on a bill, on a machine, in somebody's purchase standard

“Havells MCB 32A, 20 piece, aur wire 2.5 sq mm ka bundle”

— brand, rating, quantity and gauge, in one line

Havells MCB 32A, 20 piece, aur wire 2.5 sq mm ka bundle

“Havells 32A MCB, twenty pieces, and a bundle of 2.5 sq mm wire.”

What you'll observe

Every part of it read as the specification it is. A bundle is priced as your catalog sells bundles rather than converted to metres.

A solar system sized from a photo of the bill

— the bill says the consumption; the system size follows from it

What you'll observe

The consumption is read off the bill and used to frame the conversation, then it goes to an engineer. Sizing that somebody will mount on a roof and live with for a decade is not concluded in a chat.

The reading is genuinely useful and the handover is still correct. Doing the arithmetic is not the same as owning the design.

RO spares for a service network

— a technician standing at a customer's machine

What you'll observe

The right cartridge or membrane for that model, from your own compatibility list, answered fast enough to matter while the technician is still on site.

uc-058

PPE against a factory's own purchase standard

— a purchase officer buying to a written specification

What you'll observe

Matched against the standard the buyer names, from your catalog's own certification data. Where a product's certification is not recorded in your catalog it is not claimed — an unverified safety rating is worse than no rating, because it is relied on.

Questions people ask before they try it

How does it know which part fits which vehicle?

From your own fitment data — the same mapping your counter staff use. It does not infer fitment from a general knowledge of vehicles, because a part that fits in general and not in your catalog is a part you cannot supply.

What if a photo is too worn to identify?

It says what it can see and hands over with the image attached. In fitment trades a confident near-match is expensive twice: the return, and the vehicle or machine that stayed down while the wrong part travelled.

Can it quote a solar or inverter system?

It can read the consumption off a bill and frame the requirement, then it hands to an engineer. Sizing an installation is a design decision with a ten-year consequence and it belongs to a person who will stand behind it.

Test it, don't take it from us

Ask it: “Swift Dzire 2016 ka ye part chahiye”

You're talking to the product. Nothing you send is added to any business's catalog.
